Alphabet For Future - What's in a Name?
Every letter is digitally hand-drawn. You can discover what's in your name - a colorful world of characters...the beauty and variety of life on Earth that is so important to protect... that's why it's an 'Alphabet for Future'. Each illustrated letter contains some characters starting with that letter both in Italian and English. It can also become a pattern that can be applied to various products. (Software: Procreate) Behind the scenes: I got this idea in April 2020, during COVID-19 lockdown, a friend from Greenpeace Pisa asked me to draw the letter 'U' to compose a birthday greeting for her local group's 10th anniversary. So I had fun imagining an allyship among Nature, Animals and Humans to call for immediate action on climate, hence the idea of an Alphabet for Future, from the climate movement Fridays For Future. Shortly afterwards, my grandmother caught COVID-19 in a nursing home and my family and I were very worried. So I thought I would keep creating more letters to make up her name, drawing all the most beautiful things I could think of, including characters to discover that started with that letter both in Italian and English, like a game... After I finished drawing her name, I completed the whole Alphabet. That's how it was born! Fortunately the story has a happy ending: Grandma recovered, I gave her the drawing and I hope she looks at it and smiles:)

31 giorni, 31 disegni
31 days, 31 drawings
Inktober 2020 has been my first drawing challenge and I can say it's very useful. At first I was a bit insecure and I was not immediately inspired, but day after day I spontaneously started to associate the prompt of the day with an image that I managed to reproduce the way I wanted almost immediately. At first I used pen and felt-tip pen, then I felt more comfortable drawing digitally with Procreate. Here you can follow my entire journey and see some products with my designs!
